Bio

Jarpsy are an indie alternative rock outfit hailing from Sunderland, known for their live energy and relentless drive. Having built a fierce local following, they’ve sold out venues across the North East and taken their songs on the road, touring alongside The Fratellis and Sticky Fingers. With gritty hooks, infectious choruses, and a no-holds-barred live show, Jarpsy are crafting something special.

Jarpsy’s music transcends the typical indie rock template, synthesizing a dynamic fusion of mid-2000s indie grit, classic rock anthems, and pop-leaning melodies, resulting in a sound that’s both nostalgic and refreshingly contemporary. They themselves describe their music as "the lovechild of the high-velocity, hard-hitting impact of mid-2000s indie rock, and the stadium-filling choruses of timeless classic rock vibes." Their genre-bending range extends across psychedelia, electronica, hard rock, and synth-pop—an eclectic mix they’ve embraced under their cheeky self-label “council pop.”

Since emerging around 2016–2017 in Sunderland, Jarpsy have built a steady discography of releases that capture their evolution—from gritty early singles like "Masterpiece" and "Hammerhead" to more recent tracks such as "When You Leave" and "Scarper." Their latest release, Ocean Sounds, debuted in early 2025, reflecting both their growth and continued momentum. What’s striking is how quickly new material hits the stage: the band’s repertoire is constantly evolving, ensuring every show feels fresh, unpredictable, and brimming with energy.

Jarpsy’s reputation has been forged on the live stage, where their gigs are nothing short of legendary—loud, bouncy, and exhilarating performances that have become a hallmark of their brand. They've earned festival billing (notably at Hardwick Live), and shared stages with notable names including The Fratellis, Sticky Fingers, The Delta Riggs, and Will and the People. These connections speak to their DIY ethos, creative grit, and clear ambition to watch over the UK indie circuit and push toward broader recognition.
